This is my first post on CoinTalk. I recently got back into coin collecting after the death of my father who introduced me to the hobby 50 something years ago as a young boy. I started CRH'ing in January after reading many posts here, and after a hugely successful Coin Bag purchase followed by numerous mildly successful purchases of rolled half dollars, I decided to go "big time" and bought my first sealed box. I wanted to post my results to give encouragement to all the "newbies" like myself out there. I realize this was a special box and I'm not likely to repeat my success again, but boy what a start!. Final tally: 49 silvers including (8) Franklins, (6) 64's & (1) Bicentennial silver clad (top row - left). I also found 3 NIFCs for my coin album. Dad, this one's for you! . Thanks to all you seasoned posters out there who are willing to share your stories and information!
That's an awesome score! For me I'm lucky if I get one forty percenter in 5 boxes. It must be where you live or you got lucky. Happy hunting and welcome to the neighborhood TexAg!
Totally awesome for your first sealed box. Congrats! That doesn't happen much for me, in fact the most silvers I have gotten in a box is 16 and I have been CRH for over a year.. I usually have to do 4-6 boxes a week just to average about 7 ounces of silver a month. My biggest scores have been at the teller trays, where I have gotten over 30 silvers in one shot from a roll and a half of CWR. My girlfriend had two incredible weekends in a row. The first weekend she got 77 40%ers in two boxes. The next weekend in one box she got 27 90%ers that included a full roll of Frankies and 5 Walkers. She also got 20 40%ers. That's proof that it can happen in our area. I was so jealous but happy for her too. She ended up exchanging her 40% for a 10 oz silver bar.
Thanks for sharing everyone. More boxes on order and I should get a couple this week. Bman33 - Will keep trying the teller trays, so far no luck there. Also, I dream of getting some Walkers! In the meantime, will get a Franklin album and start putting some of my finds in there.
