I wouldn't even try. It gives this wonderful example some character. Congrats.

No way. Part of the coin's history. Also, if you DID try to remove, it would be classified as tooling or altering in my opinion.

I enjoy it as it is! Who knows the history of those scratches!!! Nice character to the coin...

    Very handsome portrait. Cool reverse.

Don't sweat the scratches. They're part of that coin's long history now, and not serious enough to be a major distraction or dealbreaker, in my opinion.

Definitely! Far better to have an ancient scratch or two than modern tooling done in a misguided attempt to hide them!

the scratch no done by cleaning or identifying.
its modern, i was wondering if one could, with a soft blunt tool make the scratch les deeper or something like that

I can see why you'd think about that, but really, I wouldn't try anything. The scratches really aren't that bad. If it were my coin and they bothered me, I'd sell it and buy another. But they're acceptable.

Acceptable for sure. My MA Cistophoric Tet has scratches (ancient scratches I believe), but they can stay as far as I'm concerned.

My latest Carthage has scratches all over. I just did not care. It was more important that it was a hard-to-find issue and it looks great for me!

A collector I respected once told me that the only way to remove a scratch is to replace it with many smaller scratches. I believe that is the theory behind polishing and tooling. I was looking through that sale and noticed you were leading on that lot so did not bid. If I knew you did not like the coin, I might have saved you.

My latest Hadrian (Caesarea drachm) is also impaired by scratches.

I would also leave the coin/ adds character. Your coin looks great the way it is.
The only "tooling" designation I don't agree with is, when third party graders call clipping=tooling. To me, if a coin struck circa 1300s was clipped during that time/ again its historical....many coins were clipped at this time.
