I've looked cant find this possible Vam.

I purchased a 1899-0 Morgan slabbed by NGC. As I looked over the coin I noticed what could be a VAM not found on the 1899-0. "Hot Lips" I've looked through VamWorld on that date and there is nothing about an 1899-0 Morgan Hot Lips. Now this is a first for me so are there steps to get a Hot Lips VAM on this Morgan? Take a look at the pictures because there are pics of the tip of the nose that shows it's been stamped too. Again a new one to me and I'd like your thoughts thanks.

If it's not on VamWorld, it's likely not an official variety, or it may be one that hasn't been discovered yet. There are a ton of VAMs for any given date of Morgan (once had a 1921 with die cracks that I gave up on because there were over 500 VAM varieties), so I guarantee that there are still a ton of undiscovered ones.

Yours could be a 50/50 split between either.

Not sure about the lips but the hit on the nose looks like it's from the reeded edge of another coin.

 

Yeah, that's one gnarly bag mark if that's the case

 

Under high magnification, looks like a perfectly formed dentical hit mark.

 

With VAM world I usually just check the date and mint mark to see if there is a top 50 or top 100. If too many varieties I give up quickly - but if just a few I might go down the list before giving up.

 

Yeah, that's definitely a hit from the edge of another coin. Usually it's reed marks. If OP is talking about the dent in the upper lip, they're all like that.

 

That's exactly where I start. If I'm REALLY bored, I might check others.

Now for the 1921 Morgans, fugetaboutit! No way and I looking through that list.

 

Start with date and mint mark position. The mark on the nose is a nasty hit from another coin.
