    Very interesting! It seems that there was a lot of back and forth with the Ottomans laying siege to Vienna up to the last one in July 14 to September 12, 1683.

    My last dated coin is a thaler, 1526, so I can add it to our effort when we reach that point in our backwards trip through time.

    Louis (Lajos) II was killed on the Mohacs Battlefield, Sulieman I leading his Ottomans to a crushing victory. Louis and most of the Hungarian nobility perished that day. 4600791.jpg

    No, this is the first thaler-size coin, minted in 1486 and extremely rare. Not my coin, by the way....
