Apparently six months ago @lordmarcovan ran across this lovely A&R quarter and thought of me. Apparently I swung a deal with his coin shop buddy to get the coin slabbed and then sent to me….. Sadly, not one iota of that transaction remains in my mind….. Oh well….. Sure is a good looking coin!! Hope I don’t owe anyone any money!
I too had forgotten this one and was initially clueless when Randy texted me pics of the coin in its new slab. I had bought it raw in my dealer friend’s NC shop back in (uh… May?) and had the dealer send it off to PCGS. Then I fast-flipped it to Randy, long before it ever graded. I knew he’s a sucker for Sested stuff. He bought it sight-unseen. Then I forgot all about the deal. (Apparently so too did Randy.) My dealer friend was paid for the coin months back, and Randy reimbursed me for the fast-flip deal at the time, so it’s definitely been his coin, all this time. All that remains to be seen is if my dealer friend needs to be reimbursed for the slabbing fee. But I’m 75-80% confident I prepaid him for that back then. I’ll follow through with him. There’s an old thread about that shop visit, from when I bought this coin. I’ll have to dig it up.

@Randy Abercrombie - Michael says we’re in the clear as far as the slab fees on that coin. So she’s all yours. Congratulations! I think the PCGS outcome was good. Was unsure at the time whether or not they’d straight-grade it or ding it for cleaning, but I thought it had a good shot at the former. Glad to see that was the case. I do think it was probably dipped once upon a time, but it seems to have passed muster at PCGS as “market acceptable”. Your slab photo in the OP actually shows the luster better than the ones I posted from the shop, and even more than the PCGS TrueView image, for that matter. Having seen that coin in hand, I can definitely declare that the TrueView does it no favors.
