At least I think it’s an Egyptian coin, it looks like one to me. Diameter is maybe only a hair wider than a U.S. dime and thickness is half or even less. It is very thin. Feels like it weighs < 1g. Any idea on year and denomination? Thanks for the help!
Looks like a good match, especially the diameter as compared to the 20 Para suggestion. Thanks! Numista is a great tool, except for me when it comes to coins like these Egyptian specimens. I'll drop it on the scale later today or tomorrow morning when I get a chance, to add some finality to the opinion...or maybe that will open more questions. My not knowing the date at first and not being even minimally familiar with Egyptian coining methods, the thinness gave me the impression that it could have been a hammered piece.
You know where the date is right? Just look up an Arabic numerals chart and you can easily determine that the numbers are 1293.
That’s what I found, but I deferred to @PaddyB expertise, because, first, there is a lot of similarity in the denominations and, second, I have NO expertise for these at all. I took the picture and ran it through the Google picture comparator and it came up with an AI answer for 1 Quirsh and the correct emperor and time frame.
I'm not familiar with these at all, but it seems to be a "frozen date". The indicator of the year is on the same side as 1293. In this case it is year 2 (٢) which can be seen above ب
