Anyone else 2026 privy hunting? I've done 6 boxes of quarters since the announcements. I'm not giving up!
How many Ws have you found? There were 80x more of them dumped into circulation than the Fourth privy. 250,000 mixed into billions isn't worth my time. If they dumped 20 million of them, you might have a chance to find ONE. Going to come down to where they ship them to. If your banks don't get any its a waste of time. In order to catch a fish, fish have to be there.
Good point... and one person found about 1,000... that's 1/250 of all of them. Odds are closer to 1/250 than 1/250,000. Hoping to find one eventually, but not going to about 10 banks per day like I did in this video.
I picked up a few rolls of quarters, and 2 of them are the new privy rolls. I know I am not going to get one, but I will get one for my album and fun searching them.
Yeah, I follow him. Absolutely crazy! He's a nice guy, gave a lot away. I'm happy for him! Hoping that next time it's me!
Good luck! I haven't seen one of the new ones yet. It's true, even without the privy they are album fillers.
If I find one, great, but I don't have the time, patience, and cash flow to be searching quarters any more than I already am (which is like 1, maybe 2, boxes a month). Would be nice to find one but I'm not obsessed over it, because honestly it doesn't feel like as big of deal as even the W's did. Sure they're selling for a lot now but it's not that impressive otherwise and I don't think the hype is going to last indefinitely. Will say one thing though, last box I did all but 3 in the box were the Declaration of Independence quarter, and if I didn't have the privy mark to search for, it would have been a really boring box lol. So there's that at least. I like having multiple things to search for or roll hunting gets boring really quick; why I'm taking a break from dimes, when there's not much interesting things to look for other than silver.
Basically my thinking. I'm still hunting quarters anyway, and if I find one, great... but I'm not going to be looking for it specifically. It took me 6 years to find a W in the wild and I didn't even find it roll hunting; it was just sitting in a drawer where I worked and I had almost given up looking at that point. And there's a lot more of them. If I do find one it's going to be pure luck of the draw. Every Declaration of Independence quarter I get my hands on, yes I'm going to look to see if it has the privy mark, of course... but I'm not going to drive myself crazy making it my sole goal.
I have now gotten 4 rolls with the Declaration of Independence on both ends, waiting to search them until later in the year. However, I have not received any of the Mayflower Compact or Revolutionary War issues, so I went to the mint's mintage information, and they show them to date, in millions, at: Mayflower Compact - 169.9-D & 102.4-P (272.3 total) Revolutionary War - 101.4-D & 100.4-P (474.1 total) Declaration of Independence - 84.8-D & 63.0-P (147.8 total) United States Constitution - 1.4-D & 1.6-P Gettysburg Address - 1.4-D & 1.4-P Curious with more of the ones minted earlier in the year, some even in 2025, that so few of the first two are around, at least in my area north of Denver, and now the 3rd design is so prevalent at a lower mintage.
Yeah, I think I'm already burnt out from searching for those privys. Not giving up, but not going nuts. Was very disheartened to see that they are so clumped up into a very small volune of boxes - RFT had over 800 in one box... not going to hold my breath that I find one of them few boxes with them.
Yeah, I drove myself crazy. I'm slightly over it. Going to relax a bit on the all-or-nothing mentality.
Haven't gotten one Declaration of Independence yet. Still looking though! Have a box of Mayflower Compacts...
