So sorry to hear of his passing.
We've done quite the harrassing of his likeness (hat and glasses) over the years.
He will be sorely missed here on CT and family, friends.

Here are a few more photos of Doug over the years. He sent these to me at one point during our lengthy emails sessions, since I was sending him so many photos of my family and I asked to see some from him.

I think on CoinTalk, he only posted a single photo of himself. He would never have posted these others, but I guess its up to me now. I don't want them to simply languish on my hard-drive, so I am sharing them with you.

Not sure which member made him the Shrek avatar, but I know he approved of it. :D

I had seen the dashing and debonair Doug photo before. Must have been quite the ladies man in his day.

I trolled several of these sites for quite a while before joining CT, and saw how he and Peter managed the site, keeping the focus on the hobby and being respectful of each other. Along with several other great members here they are the reason I joined. RIP Doug.

Rumor has it that he had to wear those sunglasses to keep the ladies from falling in love.
I still don't know what GDJMSP stands for fully.
    Thank you for the memories.

I believe he spelled it out in a post once, many years ago. All six names.

I hadn't commented on his passing yet because I just couldn't find words. I'm not sure I ever will.

I never had the privilege of meeting him or even speaking to him. But when he posted here, I paid very close attention. And when he said something I disagreed with, I thought very carefully about why I disagreed with him. It often resulted in me changing my mind.

I'm thinking about what to do about my avatar - it's based on one he, um, imposed on me after one of our exchanges. I'm inclined to keep it. If a new member asks about it in the future, I'll be happy to tell them about Doug.

I think Doug posted his full name once. That was many years ago.

May the road rise up to meet ye.
May the wind be always at yer back.
May the sun shine warm upon yer face,
And rains fall soft upon yer fields.
And may ye be in Heaven half-an-hour,
'Fore the Divil knows yer ded.

    He will be missed.

If your Google Fu is up to snuff, you can find the deets. He was 73, too young for us to lose him.
