I just picked up this 1887 Morgan in nice shape. I can see a definite cap band die clash on the reverse and other markers, but I've been on VAM World for hours and I can't pin it down. Closest match is a 1C to me, but not all the cracks line up right. It has major crackage. I wondered if one of our Morgan experts might recognize this or have some idea where to point me. Check in the Not Assigned Varieties, Die crack at 8 on vam-13 maybe. In order to get the clashing features listed, typically a coin would need to show some clashed lettering, which does not seem to be the case for any known 1887-P VAM-13 specimens.
Thanks for the tip! I'm still researching it. Seems not every marker shows in every case, and there is so much overlap. Maybe vam1, 1C, 13... The Not Assigned Varieties is helping. Thanks again!
