I picked this up earlier this week as a decent filler for my type set. It was covered in gunk, residue, and all sorts of things. After a few acetone baths, I'm left scratching my head as to what variety it is, which is why I am requesting your input and brainstorming power. Unfortunately, my laptop is being very uncooperative at the moment, but I managed to get some scope pictures uploaded, cropped, and hosted on imgur. Here's some screenshot pics of what I uploaded there, but with far lower resolution. The 8 and 7 have some light repunching / doubling going on, a broken S in States with doubling on the S-T-A and a level date. The reverse has a heavily bowed out M and lightly bowed N, and both sides have mirrored fields.
For a scope, those are great images. Most folks using a scope get really poor results. I like the coin as is. A few hours in acetone is enough. More won't help. I would stop there before any damage is done to the coin. Most of what I'm seeing on the coin is toning. You don't want to try removing that. I did a search for varieties but found nothing important.
