I one time bought an MS-64 common date clad Eisenhower Dollar, but received an ounce of silver! I sent it back and got my Eisenhower Dollar a week later.

Yeah, you blew it!

These strange transactions have happened one after another this week. Now eBay wants a file added to a return. I had no idea what they wanted, so I decided to copy and paste a photo of the coin. Apparently, that's what they wanted. Why? They didn't believe me?

Ever notice certain dates are really troublesome to obtain if you're doing a date/mint set. The 1856 half dollar has been one of those coins. I really liked my first 1856, one of my first SLH purchases that got me hooked on the series, but I noticed someone had tapped the reeding flat. I forgot about it and submitted it to PCGS. They spotted it as well and it came back "Details - damaged."

The second coin looked OK but didn't get past CACG. "Cleaned." I'm going to send it back to the dealer who sold it to me so he can sell it again.



Now this coin, only a Fine but with nice toning, turns out to be a sixpence in Good-4. The 1856 is not rare, but it's not common either.

 

They did. The SLH was $120, while the sixpence was offered for $50. I told them that they had better take the auction off eBay quickly or they are going to be dealing with two eBay screwups.

 

I was visiting with my dealer friend yesterday about some new equipment he wants. I saw that he had a stack of commems he had just purchased. Had my pick of the liter.

 

The latest addition to the Capped Bust Half Dime set - 1835 LM-1, rarity 2 in PCGS AU50 CAC. This one was acquired because it's an early stage of the final full cud for the reverse die and was a grade upgrade to the VF-20 and VF-Details Bent coins in the set which both display a later stage of the cud development.

The reverse cud goes from the I of UNITED to the scroll and across the top of the scroll and back to the rim between E and D of UNITED.

The set now has 106 of the possible 125 die marriages and remarriages. Overall, I have 152 of these "Baby Busties".

 

Nice work! Cool die marriage with lots of die breaks. CBH10s and SeatedH10s look like a lot of fun to collect. Too bad my eyesight is poor these days.
