I'm not able to comment on its authenticity from a picture, but presuming it is legit... see below for a starting point comparison to help you determine its current value. The snip is of the 4 most recent Nero/Aureus/SALVS showing as sold on the ACSearch.info website. (You can click the image to expand it.) ACS link: https://www.acsearch.info/search.ht...de=1&fr=1&it=1&es=1&ot=1¤cy=usd&order=1 For the convenience of those who may want to easily view and/or respond to the OP, this is the example posted:
The example about which you asked sold at auction in 2012 for $9,537 + fees. https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=1193432 It went to auction again in 2022 and hammered at $10,974 + fees. https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=9492394
Yep, @philologus_1 beat me to it as I was typing. Leu considers it likely to be from the Boscoreale Hoard of 1895 (based on the toning) which naturally would add a hefty premium to the price.
Thanks!!! I only have the free ACSearch account so the hammer prices don't show. This is really useful.
I have found the ACS fees a bargain in view of the bang-for-the-buck assistance it provides in making buying/selling decisions. Not to mention the helpful image search capability which allowed me to quickly discover the example you posted on prior auctions. (I know there are other options than ACS, but for my needs its great.)
I agree... small price to pay to have instant access to comps. I'm signing up for the 1 year plan....
