This recent acquisition has definitely become a collection favorite - a little cupro-nickel 5 centavos token, minted in the late 1800s for a hardware store in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. These are quite rare, but most that have survived are in BU condition. They were minted by the Scovill Manufacturing Company of Waterbury, Connecticut. Mintage is unknown but it must have been fairly small. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information out there about these tokens. Mine is now the "holotype" for Numista. I tried a couple different lighting setups for photos, but neither can really capture the brilliant luster and mirror-like surfaces. Check out the video below!
