Very nice selection of pig-coins! I must confess I am not strong on animal-related coins, but I do have a Vespasian denarius with sow and piglets somewhere (cannot find the coin just now!), and this Antoninus Pius As which I got last week. Antoninus Pius, 138 – 161 As 143-144, Obv: Laureate head r., with drapery on l. shoulder. Rev: Sow r., with piglets. RIC 733. Here some hastily shot pictures of this sweet coin:
That is a great depiction! There is a definite primal gut-feeling when you meet up with one of them! Even domesticated pigs, when angered, are a force to reckon with! But, feral wild boars are nasty. Ruger Super Redhawk to the rescue!
I only got this well-worn coin because of the sow and piglets... My TITUS version... RI Titus 79-81 CE AR Denarius Sow piglets
I agree! Many died in wild boar hunts. I would use my .340 Weatherby Magnum....to be on the safe side.
Mine is .44 mag, but I use Buffalo Bore, FULL SAAMI magnum charge... As a hand cannon, it is AWESOME! I seriously looked at a .454 casull caliber, but wanted to stay more in the "universal" calibers. Mysia Kyzikos AR Hemiobol 480-450 BCE 0.4g Boar-Lion Sear 3850

nasty lQQkin brute...and that animal....(jk) i'm a BP dude myself, i have 3 44 pistols and a 50 cal rifle and we now have lots of ferral hogs round here. i like to think of it as wild bacon.
Ham and bacon, thats about all pigs are good for to me. But the Hawaiians, they would argue that Spam is a delicacy.
In Germany, you see wild boar along roadways, they are protected. The little piglets are really cute. However, the adults can be unpredictable, so best to be cautious.
In the lower US wild boar (basically feral domesticated pigs) are everywhere and a nuisance. Many people ask them onto their property to shoot them and weed them out. They are overpopulated. Also, in some of those areas wild capybara are also a nuisance. Just giant rats originally brought here in the fur trade.
they are considered pest here and it's open season on'em, but yeah they can & will mess you up if you ain't careful and fast.
Have not seen any in this topic lately. There is a difference between a coin and an oink, right? Christian
