Congratulations on an excellent coin, I saw one in recent auction. It went for BIG $ in Swiss Francs.....well worth it though. For now, I am just going after mint state cheaper denari. I am into to much stuff!
Yeah, I love too much stuff too. Much as I'd love to have a Greek coin from every city, I have narrowed my focus to the Roman portraits. I do love gold, like you, but I think the portrait series in gold would be much too hard!
Sadly that is reality I guess, we could sure show some of the billionaires out there, how to properly spend all that $ , and have tons of fun, in doing so, instead of sitting on it. One of my ultimate passions are the Holy Roman Empire gold Dukaten/ AR Talers/ really beautifull designs. One thing that always comes up, people will tell you that if you had billions to spend on hobbies like coins, getting a perfect Commodus aureus would not be that special, since you could pick up a hundred or more rare coins a day/ probably some truth to that....love to find out though
Nice coins. Keeping the history straight during the "third century of crisis" is always difficult for me: guy
Sweet!! ... congrats, Smeag man, that is a very cool mini-collection (it is a great feeling when you snag the final piece of the puzzle, eh?)
Greg, that is a great set of coins!!! Congrats!!! I plan to tackle this bunch someday and know its going to be a challenge.
