Hey all. It's been a while since I posted a detecting thread. Anyways, I've been all over my 1/3-acre land (home built 1959) with my older machine with some luck, but most finds were between a few inches to about 6 inches. Now, with my new machine (Nokta Simplex), I'm finding wheat cents as deep as my small shovel is or more! Now that I see those results, it's time to hopefully re-visit some of my previous spots. I can't wait! There's a perfect spot for this. A house location where there use to be a house that was built in the mid to late 1800's. In previous times, I have found several Wheaties and a couple Indian head cents. Even if it's been detected before, there's still a chance for more to find even deeper. Here are my coins from today. 1916, 1941 and 1942. No mint marks. Wish me Luck!! Comments welcome....
Awesome! I hope you find some great stuff. It's been super rainy and wet here. Haven't found even a clad coin in a while.
Yep, I'm not into technology but I'm impressed with some of these new detectors. I have a site on the property adjoining me that I've hit for thirty years with at least 8 or 10 different detectors of every brand. Never found anything too great, a few buttons and assorted household junk. I didn't even think about trying it when I got my latest detector, but the property went up for sale and thought I better give it another shot while I still had permission. A large cent, Indian head cent, shield nickel, and a three cent silver later, I'm a believer in the new technology!
I wish. In the whole yard, I only found 2 Silver coins. 1950 dimes. I do have a decent spot lined up that contains a 1926 home and a vacant spot where there was a house from the late 1800's. I've done the 19th century lot with good success. The 1926 built home will need permission. No problem. Just knock on the door and act my bashful self. Just tell them why I am interested and about the hobby in a short sort of way. I think an older couple may live there. Maybe offer them some of the finds to go with the home. 100 years and still standing award.
