Ebay has announced on April 13th that "winning auction bids are now final." This means that the U.S.-based winning bidders cannot submit bid cancellation requests to eBay. The winning bidder CAN contact the seller and ask for a cancellation, however. If the seller denies the cancellation, eBay tells sellers not to worry about negative feedback from buyers: A "request to remove" the negative feedback can be lodged within 90 days of the sale. As for the negative feedback thing, I don't believe eBay one bit. They are NOT to be trusted with that. I read their "negative feedback protection clause" when they were running their global shipping program. They told me that I'd be protected from negative feedback resulting from shipping issues (since eBay handled the overseas shipping). Well, some guy in Korea bought four items from me which I securely combined in one package and sent to eBay's Global Shipping Center in Illinois. The guy complained about eBay's shipping fees(!) anyway, since eBay opened the package I sent and SEPARATED the items into three packages and charged the buyer all that extra shipping cost to send three packages. The guy insisted that I, personally, sent the items to him that way(!) And I got FOUR negative feedbacks which eBay refused to remove even after my multiple appeals for their removal (or at least whittle it down to ONE neg). All four negs are still there. Anyway, here is the new policy as described by eBay: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Auctions on eBay work best when winning bidders follow through and pay. You have told us that canceled bids disrupt your sale, hurt the item’s value, and create overhead. To better protect you, we’ll be removing the option for buyers to cancel winning bids. What this means for you Fewer cancellation requests US buyers will no longer be able to submit cancellation requests after winning auctions. Auction sales are final While US buyers can still message you directly to request a cancellation, it’s up to you to grant or reject. Our policy states all auction sales are final and fully supports you in declining the request. Protection from negative feedback If the buyer leaves negative feedback due to a declined cancellation, you can request its removal through Seller Help within 90 days of the sale. ← Don't believe this!
Could eBay be any more greedy? Think of how much money they must be making every minute and they keep trying to come up with ways to squeeze even more.
True. I do note that this is about the only change that eBay has made in a long time that might be in the SELLERS' favor.
