Had a nice little nickel hunt. You all finding it harder and harder to make finds? Been without a silver quarter for at least a month.

Your process is a lot like mine. My finds range all the way back to 1891. I have found about 10 silver nickels per month. I have also found 40 - 50 Buffalo nickels that I was able to restore.

Very nice! I think my earliest find was from the early 1900s.

What are some of your favorite finds? My favorite finds are error coins - rim to rim die break with retained cud and also another coin with a double clipped planchet stand out, going to make a video of me sending some off to get graded soon.

Just hit it big on dimes, going to be my next video, but I found 5 silver roosies and a merc!

When I think back to my CRH days, it would take me about 2 weeks to get through a box (a couple of hours in the evening). But my scope was broader. I included varieties as well and high grade coins for all dates/mm’s. At one point early on I’d keep all pre-1960 finds, but volumes got large and turned collecting into hoarding. So I became pickier soon after. Even with regards variety rankings. How many minor DDRs would satisfy me? :)

Yeah, the hoarder balance is rough, I keep things very organized and REALLY have to be careful not to keep too much. I keep about 5 coins per hunt. It's sustainable... for now. Doing about a box or two per week.
