Nice token, Z. I have one or two pieces similar....not sure it's the same one as yours. BTW, do you know anything about the American Coin Club? Is it an actual club or organization, or maybe a commercial enterprise? I never could find any information about them. I thought maybe you might know. Thanks. Bruce
I'll look through my notes. If I remember correctly, it was a multi state club in the upper Midwest. I'm thinking Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin. They may have existed solely to support a regional coin show. Other more knowledgeable members will correct me I am sure . Z
C-O-I-N-S 1971 aka Coins Of International Nations Society. M/A 34mm 12.31 grams cupro-nickel. Apologies for the images' color. That was as close as I could get to the real color. Privy mark at 4:00. Newman Portal has an excerpt from Numismatic Scrapbook 5/24/71. It's an advertisement from a Lakeland Coin Dealer and apparent co-founder of C-O-I-N-S named William F. Sneed. Sneed stated their goal was 50k members. That seems pretty massive even for the Big Engine that Could. I wonder if they even had 50?
I actually joined that club some time in 1979 or 1978. It cost $10 and I got a membership card and a 1921 Morgan. I don't really remember anything else happening, not even junk mail. Maybe I got lost on their membership list? I ended up joining the ANA and selling the Morgan as the Hunt Brothers spiraled in. This might be interesting. https://coinauctionshelp.com/ACCGS_TPGS.html
