1814 large cent

    Corrosion/porosity and rough surfaces are the bane of this series. This one looks relatively decent in that regard. Not perfect, but better than the norm, probably.

    I’d grade it as a fairly solid G4, in my opinion. Maybe G6 on a good day, but let’s just say G4. I think the rims are a tad soft to call it G6.

    I like these classic head cents. I agree with @lordmarcovan , yours seems to be nicer than most, for the grade.

    Is that a plain or crosslet 4? I can’t tell from the photo. Both are basically a $100 coin. Just curious. :)

    yes I can tell the difference on a coin with a clear view of the date. This coin has either wear or a bit of damage around the 4 that makes it hard to see on the pic. Might be easier in hand with a loupe.

    Amazingly that is a better example of an otherwise PITA coin to find nice.
