Here’s a new coin I recently acquired. It was reasonably priced. Interestingly, this is also my first AS from this particular period in Rome. Severina (270 - 275 A.D.) AE As O: SEVERINA AVG, Diademed and draped bust of Severina right. R: IVNO REGINA, Juno standing half-left, holding patera and scepter, peacock standing left before, officina mark Z (=7) in exergue. Rome Mint 26.5mm 7.77g RIC 7 (S). CBN 319. RCV 11711
Here is a Severina denarius Severina A.D. 270 - 275 Ӕ Denarius 19x20mm 2.8g SEVERINA AVG; Diademed, draped bust right. VENVS FELIX; Venus standing left holding seated figure of Cupid and scepter. In ex. S RIC V Rome 6 and another as, with a reverse that has Sol between Aurelian and Severina Aurelian AD 270- 271 Ӕ As 24x27mm 6.6g IMP AVRELIANVS AVG; laureate and cuirassed bust right. CONCORDIA AVG Severina and Aurelian standing facing each other and clasping hands; Aurelian holding scepter. Above, radiate and draped bust of Sol right. RIC Vi Rome 80
I don’t have a denarius of hers, but I do have an Aurelian AS that I acquired shortly after obtaining the Severina AS. I intend to share it in the near future. Great coins, Victor.
