Numismatic gifts always hold a special place in my collection. Every time that I inspect this 2016 secret Santa coin, I like it more & more. I swear that my secret Santa studied & profiled my collecting habits before selecting something that would really fit into my collection. This big 26mm follis makes me happy every time I see it so I'm posting it here. I hope you coin peeps like it as much as I do.

That' a very nicely centered and attractive coin!!

I wish I could post my "Secret Santa's" cool gift ---a super mix of LRB's that I just can't photograph well enough to do them justice...But I should have lots of time in the weeks and months to come and finally take a few decent photos.

But, here's my sole example of her; another follis with the Veneri Victrici reverse, Cyzicus mint:

    Galeria Valeria.jpg

Hmm. I guess you would describe her as a 'handsome woman'??

My favorite gift coin. Right after I started collecting the Roman Republic my dad asked how he could buy me a coin for my birthday and get something I'd like and I shared my Vcoins wish list with him. This is what he picked out:

I got this one from my SS this past year. I had wanted one of these since I first saw the type so I was very pleased when I opened the card.

My Secret Santa sent me a WONDERFUL Gift! He was watching my posts, paid attention, was extremely thoughtful, and NAILED it when I received it!

Yeah, I figgered out my Secret Saturnalia Santa... He TRIED to keep it secret, but I KNEW who he was when I received it!

He is a great person, a great Coin Friend, very thoughtful, collects very similarly as I do, and I really enjoy his company when he posts here. I wish we lived closer as I would enjoy meeting and spending time with him and his collection!

I really enjoy this Denarius in my collection!

    AR Denarius 19mm 3.84g
    Rome mint
Obv: Turreted head of Cybele, in left field right foot upward
    Rev: Curule chair
    Ref: Cr 356-1a Syd 735 Furia 20

I had been looking for a Curule Chair that NIGHT BEFORE I received this coin for my Saturnalia present! (Fate-FORTUNE) There were postings before on CT, and I regretted that I did not have one. I felt that I had a hole in my collection as I KNEW how important the symbolism of POWER that the Curule Chair was in the ancient Roman Republic.

@Mikey Zee nailed it for me!

I went with my initial photo, my attempts to photogragh it didn't show the beauty of the coin as this one does.
I really appreciate all 3 they all fit in to where I'm heading in my collection.

Cool post with a lot of great examples :D

I would certainly be remiss if I did not show this Pontius Pilate prutah that was gifted to me...simply because I had had a some really bad news and desperately needed a pick-me-up.

    Thanks @Alegandron! Pontius Pilate.jpg
