I've expanded my Vespasian collection to 12 denarii. My collection still needs work. Some of them are duplicate issues and although they are interesting to compare with one another I will be swapping them out for different versions. I appreciate the advice of my friends on the CoinTalk Ancients Forum. You guys rock! Some of you may recognize coins that you once owned. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing—one of a kind forum. This is not the final version. I'm also planning to purchase an exclusive home for my Vespasians. I have my eye on a 12 Air-Tite capsule mahogany display case with a burgundy colored velour lining. This is very exciting!
What a great and wonderful project @Deacon Ray. The coins you chose are also very nice. Kind of reminds me of my ongoing Gordian III project, except mine is only at 7 silver coins and one bronze coin so far.
Nicely done! Most of the major bases are covered (Judaea Capta, dynastic, antiquarian, Pax, Divi), with some rare types sprinkled in. I'm looking forward to your final version!
Nicely done @Deacon Ray. Indeed I do recognize 3 of those coins. I like the way you have put this collection together. Great choices.
It's not polite to highjack someone else's thread. Several experts have already told you that your coins look suspect (I.E. Fake) in your other thread. Good luck at CCF. P.S. Great new addition @Deacon Ray. Can never have enough Vespasian
Great job @Deacon Ray !!! A very interesting mix---all with considerable eye-appeal. I always love your presentations!!
Dang, I suppose I was giving him the benefit of the doubt as an impatient noob. You are probably right though... me and my worthless trusting nature
I find that I get jealous reading through just about the very thread on this forum. Lol My bro needs to get the Judaea Capta denarius so I can ooooh and ahh at it. Fantastic work, as usual, Deacon Ray! Erin
Just report them. (REPORT) just under the posting box. The Moderators do a GREAT job stopping them, then clearing their postings! See, it is GONE from this Thread. The Trolls usually start out "nice", asking "innocent" questions, then as you get sucked in, they start getting belligerent and start gumming up the threads and the forum. If you have any doubt or see a pattern evolving, I just REPORT it and the Moderators do a great job determining if it is a problem "new member".
Also when he posts fakes make sure to at least grab the images so they can be reported on the FORVM fake reports later. Even if he doesn't post weight/size they don't mind.
Thanks, Erin! The Judaea Capta coins are awesome! The grieving widow images are very moving. Anyone who has lost a loved one in a military conflict regardless of time, race, or religion has to feel the pain that the woman is experiencing. I also have a Titus "Capta" denarius which is very beautiful.
Thanks, Orfew! I'm grateful to you and other members of the forum for creating an opportunity for a beginner such as myself to put together an awesome collection of ancient coins that I could not have imagined possible on my modest income a year ago.
The prophecy of Isaiah is vividly portrayed in the reverse. You can sense the despair. I'm hoping to get a a First Revolt prutah in the next few months and, hopefully, convince my brother to get the Vespasian. The history that is told by the two coins is incredible. Erin
Awesome denarius collection, I've resisted the urge to buy Roman coins in the beginning but I couldn't resist. Now I got a mini collection of denarius too. My current project now is gathering Julia Domna coins, luckily there are plenty out there.
