New and better Photos of the nickles I did remove the other photos since they were pretty bad... Here are some new ones. The specks you see are in the capital plastic holder.. not on the coins. Enjoy!! RickieB
I love those Blue Nickels. But that 53 is down right beautiful . What does the reverse of it look like?
Howdy Ed... It looks about the same just a tad bit lighter..but nice just the same... Thanks for taking a look. Regards, RickieB
Those are some PURRRRRTY nickels! I was sorting through sheets I had acquired and found a rose colored 1962 and a blue 1963. How do you tell the difference between proof and non-proof nickels from the 1950's and 1960's?
Well if I remember from the book called "Cameo Proof's 1950-1964, there are several coins that have die polishing marks (mostly on the half's 1952 is the super hot one) but the nickles do show the mirror finish but they vary quite a bit compared to the perfected method used today. Go to a shop and compare the two..you will see no doubt! Good hunting and thanks for taking a look. RickieB
I LOVE the 52 and the 53! And talk about good photos! What kind of set up do you have? What type of lighting most of all is what I'm interested in. Speedy
Howdy Speedster... Thank you for the comments..comng from you put a smile on my face... Here is what I use; Camera Nikon D2x 12.4 MP Digital SLR Lights White Lightining Strobe 2x 800's one with Barn doors and one with silver umbrella Nikor 105mm Lens with a 4x close lense mounted on the 105mm Lighting from over head at 45 degree angles about 1-1.5 ft above the camera lens. Lighting ~ 2-3 ft away from the coin Lens focus with 4x close up ~ 4 inches away from coin. Meter the highlights on the coin set the mode to manual and White Balance to Incandelescent and fire away! Hope that helps... Regards, RickieB
Love those colorful nickels. Have several myself, was it the solution that the mint washed them with in those years that causes such toning?
That helps! Right now I'm useing one light and sometimes it gives a wrong color look to the coin. I was talking a close up shot of a nickel RPM yesterday and it came out looking copper. Speedy
That is a very nice strike! Love them all - thanks for sharing. As I mentioned in the other post I would love to see the reverse of the 53. Best Regards, Darryl
Hi Speedy.. Check your white balance on your camera. Different light sources have different color temperatures. Check your camera for an incandescent setting and adjust accordingly. Check your manual. On most software you can adjust the white balance as well. Good luck and send a mail if you want to get together on it..no problem. Regards, RickieB
Hey Darryl, I will be happy to shoot it tonight and post it for you... Thanks for taking a look.. RickieB
