Dumped an old bag and this one jumped out at me. Seems to be a lot going on here. CoinKnow rated it 63-65. The mint mark looks clean, but some other mint errors? Is it worth sending out for grading? Is this a 2-dollar penny, a 25- dollar penny, or something else? I appreciate any help!
Thanks. Did you notice strike on the "LIBERTY"? According to APMEX, a 1968-S RD from MS-60 to MS-65 is worth from .22 to $1.70, so, there's that anyway.
It’s not Mint State. There’s too much wear on the high points on both sides. Couple that with the die deterioration and the multitude of large and small contact marks again on both sides, the worn off IGWT at the rim too, and you have maybe AU Details. Worth? ONE CENT. You need to get a better camera/scope too. That will help you eliminate the pixelation. Right now you can’t begin to assess the surface condition with those pix.
By the looks of the reverse photo and the smoothness that Spark pointed out. I might be able to go MS60
