Tried to sell this for $69 plus shipping on the bay. No bites, not even a single watcher (yes, I know it's common date). So I piggybacked on a friend's PCGS order. Good luster, no major marks and almost no minor ones! Bit of a weak strike seen on the headdress feathers. I'm thinking it'll come back MS64 RB. Was my price unreasonable? If it grades MS63 RB, then I guess I overcharged for it a touch. If it grades 65 RB, someone missed on a deal! In any case, guess the grade and feel free to comment. I'll post the grade when it comes in in a few weeks.
I'm thinkin' '64, and depending on what the grader has for lunch on game day, '65 ain't at all out of reach. No way a '63............
Funnily enough, I bought from a seller who thought the feather weakness was wear. I disagree. But thanks for your guess, nonetheless.
Surprised you didn't get your asking price regardless of my guess at grade. It's a nice looking coin, especially the reverse.
Could be my pics. I recently had a thread on my toned 2 cent piece that I thought was BU. At least one person guessed AU58. It came back PCGS MS64+. I suppose my pics do make the devices come out a bit "shiny" looking as SuperDave once told me...
Sometimes I think because 90% of what I sell is slabbed, people assume all my raw coins must have problems. Some do, of course, but that ain't the case much of the time.
Your pics seem to indicate to me breaks in luster around the head. Without being able to look at the rims better that also left me wondering. Better angles of the ribbon on the back would have also helped. IMO No one can reliably grade with one image of each side and without different angles.
I prefer raw and I don't see any problems with your coin, only indications that there may be very-very light circulation.
Were the photos taken out of a flip or in one? If outside, I can see the 'cabinet rub' /AU58 like USS656 also. If inside then I think it can do a 64, assuming the faint lines on the rim are on the plastic. Jim
I had originally thought that there were some rubs top of head and same area rev. looks like a finger print. The area in question looks like it could be lighting also. I think it might come back 58, but by contact marks and strike I would say Ms64.
Interestingly, after a quick search on eBay,I could locate zero AU58 RB Indian Cents currently listed or sold.
