I gave up on editing these pics on Photobucket. it is a pain in the butt to edit the pages. for now forget the reverses of the coins matching up with the obverses and just get a look at some of the insects. I understand scorpions are not insect, but I wanted to included them anyways. 1/3 of my collection is not photographed yet. click on a coins pic to enlarge it... then use the right arrow to go threw them all enjoy. link: http://s1160.photobucket.com/user/spirityoda/library/Coins with Insects
Cool theme. I was trying to think of ancients with insects on them. I know there were some types with grasshoppers. In browsing your album, I saw some spider coins, which were neat. I hadn't really thought about spiders on coins. Yes, Photobucket is increasingly awful, but since they're free, I guess one only has so much latitude to complain. I've used them for years, but since they changed their site a year or two back, I've given up on trying to have any order in my albums. I'm planning to use CollectiveCoin for galleries more in the future. It's free, simple, uncluttered, no ads, and all coin-related. Haven't tried any of the gallery features here yet.
thank you. eventually I will want some ancient Greek bees, grasshoppers, and beetles. there are some more colorized spiders coins that are so-so. maybe get them some day. more focused on the ones without colorized stickers on them for now. the ones with the stickers I did get have actual insect designs on the metal itself.
You may want to contact Daniel, just up the road from Toronto, who may have info on some of the things that you visualize for your collection. He has been at it for many years and his site is great: http://www.coinzoo.net/ Just type in "insects" in the search engine for bits now, but I would suggest you contact him through his site.
If you ever decide to build a gallery here, just make sure you create a back-up in some other place. Before we had the gallery feature here, you could build albums which allowed people to view them. I had several here for coins, medals, etc. Then, the site was "improved" and I lost all of them. I'm not saying that it will happen again, but I sure wouldn't want to be the lab rat if it ever does. Chris
thanks for that website. I do have all the insect coins in this site. some maybe not photographed yet.
I did that and when they improved CT website so much got lost or limited so I will not do it again here.
@lordmarcovan . thank you for letting me know about CollectiveCoin.com website. I have uploaded all 2/3rd's my coins with insects there. I really liked the editing. it is easy to install. I do have 1 question... if I have a collection of coins saved under Coins with Insects for spirityoda.... how do I individually input the information for each coin and save it ? if you want to see my coins... look under recently added coins... Coins with Insects it will have a San marino gold spider pic spirityoda. link: https://collectivecoin.com
still learning how to do it. do I just go over the information from the last coin and save it ? for that coin that is on the top ?
It's been a while since I used it, myself. The member named "Scubafuel" over there is the site owner, I believe. Just shoot him a message with any questions you might have. Nice fella.
In addition to the US Honey Bee Day in August, there is now an initiative for a World Honey Bee Day in May - and guess what, there will be a "honey" coin this year, and a "bee" coin next year. Latvia will issue a honeycomb design €5 collector coin in late 2017. And in 2018 Slovenia plans to issue a €2 commemorative coin with a "honey bee" design ... Christian
