Lord help us, as I thought that it was against Federal law to post an image of a live person: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/19/us/politics/trump-gold-coin.html
The 1926 semisesqui. half had busts of G.Washington and Coolidge on it while he was alive and in office so while rare, it has been done before.
I just saw it, and that is a pretty cool picture to go on the front no matter who you support. While I seldom buy gold coins due to how quickly they add up, this might be one I'll have to get. Not sure what the reverse looks like though.
Looks like yet another boring image of a president on a coin. Liberty is much more appealing than any of these guys will ever be.
Limber up those counterstamps, everybody! (Trying to think of a way to do an olive-branch counterstamp for the new dime reverse...)
Oh good lord, a bitter Canadian complaining about America. Just a reminder: US men's hockey wins Gold. US women's hockey wins Gold. US mens paralympics hockey wins Gold. Americans own hockey now. The 51st state should be more grateful lol. Oh, and how long did you guys have actual monarchs of another country on your coins?? Yeah that's what I thought. Also, you complain about Trump, let's not bring up a certain Canadian prime minister and a certain Halloween costume....
Honestly kind of doubting it's ever going to be made, but I'm bad at predictions, so who knows. I don't think it should be made, but if it is, I want one. Is that a weird stance to have?
It is in fact, not against the law to do so, and has been done several times already. This coin, if it gets made, wouldn't even be the first to depict a living president (it would be the second).
This thread was started by a guy that literally has been using money with the faces of living king's and queens from another country. Hypocrisy, irony, what do you call that exactly?
Maybe he would prefer not to. I know I would. George Washington never wanted to be depicted on a coin, he felt it smacked of monarchy. Liberty is hands down the best human depiction on any US coin ever.
Okay. So complain about their own currency, rather than our non circulating pieces that no one is being forced to use... And also, George Washington is dead. Lincoln is dead. Franklin is dead. Jackson is dead. Roosevelt is dead. Even the women on those gimmicky quarters are dead. Not one of them wore a crown. Obama, and Bush Jr, have been put on coins, both are alive. But once again, those coins were never circulated. You people are running out of crap to argue about.
I'm not arguing I just don't think that any president living or dead should be on our coinage. It is possible to give your opinion without being argumentative. In my opinion the state, territorial and US Park coins are way more interesting than coins that depict people.
We have very different tastes and that's okay. I dont like the newer quarter designs but I love early Lincon Wheat cents. With that being said, I would have ignored this thread completely, if it weren't for the OP. The OP has no reason to talk about living people on coinage until I see evidence that they have complained about their own coinage on an open forum.
