Just picked up this interesting bronze of the Thracian King Amatokos (389 - 380BC):

    Ox: Grape Bunch
Rx: Labrys (double-headed axe); starting at top right of axe and clockwise: AMA -T (at end of handle)-O-K (attached to left edge of axe)-O; Unidentified object above.

The coin is 17mm across, weighs 14.5gms and is a whopping 7.5mm thick, nearly half its width. One of those coins you can't resist when you see it.

The seller took out a tray and it stood out like a sore thumb. Never heard of Amatokos and have never seen such a thick Greek bronze. Had to have it.

Don't throw that thing at anybody. It's a weapon all itself. I would love one of these.

Nah. Not sold TIF. I sometimes just like to hang on to some coins for a bit before I let them go so it's "on hold" for me. I know that sounds weird but I just like to do a little research on some ancients before I turn them loose. Truthfully I could never make a living selling coins, it's just a hobby.
