Sorry to hear that. I do enjoy the buying and selling in my antique shop.

I don’t think I’d get rid of the whole collection, but there’s certainly pieces of it that I’ve considered parting with to free up some coin money. There’s a Walker short set in NGC / PCGS MS64+ that does not float my boat any more. I’ve even considered parting with my buffalo nickel date set.

Ah, who am I trying to kid? I’m not parting with ANY of my collection……that’s just crazy talk!

I have a similar problem. But I have spreadsheets with approximate values and hope she will figure things out. She's a smart woman, unless she gets dementia she'll be pleased.

This is how I do it too. Sell single coins and replace then with coins I like better. I slowly Curate a beautiful collection by strategic purchases and when I do make a mistake, once I realize it months or years later, I sell it and move on, even at a loss.

Easier than liquidating an entire collection and starting over from scratch, at least for me anyways.

Hopefully it will help her in the long run.

I think it will with the graded collection. I will eventually unload the ungraded constitutional stuff when I feel my end is near. But I'm still a hoarder until the bitter end, unless I absolutely need cash.:p

I've sold out several times over my younger years out of necessity but wouldn't consider it now unless my situation was severely dire.
