I just saw one of those George III in extra fine for a decent price on ebay. I was tempted to get it.

So I have an expensive addiction. Here are three more coins for my animals collection. 1936 U.S. Bay Bridge half dollar (I know, this is the World Coins forum, but bear with me (get it, bear?)). 1994 Mexico 5 pesos, and 2016 Virgin Islands 1 dollar. Edit: Full disclosure - I learned after I bought it that the Virgin Islands coin is an unofficial issue. I had wondered why the Virgin Islands would issue coins about a Russian zoo, and the answer was that it didn't. Oh well. Not the worst mistake I've made buying coins. 1936 bay bridge half dollar.jpg 1994 mexico 5 pesos turtle.jpg 2016 virgin islands 1 dollar.jpg

I recently got a small handful of raw Japanese coins in respectable shape.

These two are Showa 9 and S. 15 (1934, 1940 respectively) and feature the 'golden kite'. A rather martial theme as the kite is an aggressive/war emblem associated with battle and the first Emperor. The Kite is pictured with the rays of the sun behind, as in the mythology the bird shine brightly and either blinded or led the enemy astray with it's light.

The Dansco for the Japan type set calls it a dove on the year 15 issue. It is the dove-opposite (and would likely find a dove tasty).

I love the design of the Panama Bilbao series. Picked up these two 1/2 Bilboas a while back and just recently got around to getting photos of them.

Here's a new pickup for my Austro-Hungarian set.

    Hungary 4 Krajczar (1868) KM-442
Obverse die trial in tin (thin planchet)

Though the date and mint mark would have been on the reverse, this was a one-year type, so it can be dated to 1868. Business strikes were in copper with a thick (2.8mm) planchet.

Remnants of paper and glue on the reverse indicate this came from a mint archive book.

Fantastic! I love the Ireland coins, they are simple, uncluttered. To the point, you know? Very eye appealing to me!

I knew this set was a good a good pick. As the color of the coins as pictured are spot on in hand. Many thanks to Seattlite86 for his assist in nailing this one.
The half crown almost has a woodie grain to it.

I LOVE South African silver!! This 5 shilling was purchased on ebay for a few dollars under spot! It has uncirculated luster, and tons of cool die polish marks that I completely failed to capture. 11337.jpeg 11334.jpeg

Another Japanese...a nicer one, but I haven't figured out how to show the relfective flash of the red surfaces particularly well. 2 sen, Meiji 14/1881 in an MS-64RB slab.

Not new to me, I've been slowly saving these from an album they've been in for over 40 years. They all needed an acetone dip.

As many of you may know I am new to coin collecting. I inherited my Dad's coins. It is taking me quite some time to go through them. He did have many foreign coins. Here is one I really liked. :) 1966 Australia obverse .JPG 1966 Australia reverse .JPG
