    Those gold coins were minted thousands of years ago and they still look pristine. Gold coins keep their beauty for a very long time.

    Yes indeed, gold is amazing, even coins salvaged from ship wrecks are not effected by the salt water. But, its flaw is in its softness, thus coins wore out faster then silver or base metal ones. Its truly mindboggling why so many are in pristine condition today.

    I wonder if he was the man who won that AV 100 Dukaten 1629 Bohemia "Traveller Coll." NAC auction?
