Oh in the old days I had a number of multiple silvers.
Now I have to be satisfied with these scoops. 4 foreigns with this pile. A modern Canadian quarter, 1 and a half pesos, and an Italian 5 Euro cent.

The wife grabbed a handful from the coinstar today. 22 cents us, canada nickel, and a 20 eurocent.

The Coinstar was backed up both times I went in today. In the tray was what looked like a quarter and a dime. Pulled them out and went thats a silver dime. I flipped the quarter over and yep that was a Silver too. I said let me check for any stand up coins. Pulled out another silver dime.

Once again, picked just the right time to hit Food Lion. Went by the CoinStar, and the reject bin was practically full. A bunch of modern foreign, mostly small copper or aluminum. A couple of clad dimes. And these:

After paying for my groceries, I'm about $30 ahead. :D

Three packs of cheese slices (on sale 3/$5), one bunch of mustard greens ($1.59), a big sweet onion (about $1.50) and a few sweet potatoes (a little less than $2). These days, a single 40% silver half will just about cover that.

(Within a mile of our house we have two Harris-Teeters, a Sprouts, and this Food Lion. Another mile gets me to Aldi or Target. There are grocery deserts in the area, but we're in a grocery rainforest.)

(Edit to include the actual point of that second paragraph: yeah, I make a number of small shopping trips, rather than going weekly to stock up.)

Oh, that's real(-ish) Swiss and pepper jack. When I want the Play-Doh slices I get them at Aldi.

Actually I fondly (fondue) remember "commodity" cheese from my boyhood in Apalachia.

I got my share of Velveeta-based dishes as a child, too. (That was the go-to cheese for grilled cheese sandwiches, and I think for Mom's mac and cheese as well, although she moved on to better products later.)

So are you all now finding cheese at the Coinstar? Found paperclips, buttons and other stuff but no cheese yet...
