    Yes, silver bars were really hot in the 1970s. Some people thought that they would have a long term collector value, but most of us, who were serious collectors, told them that they would not hold their "numismatic" value. We were right.

    The bar manufacturers even came up with "error bars." The only errors were committed by those who paid a premium for them. You knew the fix was on then.
