Welcome both of you to CT!!! Not sure about the no initials on your coin. For some reason it says I don't have permission to view your attachments. The Close AM or CAM refers to the 1992 LMC's. In 1993 the mint changed the reverse slightly and some 1993 reverses were accidentally minted on the 1992 P and D LMC. If you find a 1992 P or D with a close AM you have something that could be worth quite a bit. The wide AM or WAM refers to the 1997-2000 P and D LMC's These are supposed to have Close AM like yours. Some however were minted with I believe the the Pre- 93? reverses..please correct me if I am wrong on this. These tend to be worth considerably less than the 1992 P or D CAM. Take a look at a 1992 or older LMC and a 1993-2008 LMC and you will see the difference. Hope this helps
Found this when I was googling no FG error... the No "FG" error and it is actually an Error and not a Variety, is probably more common than most believe! All of the Master Hub Dies, Master Dies, Working Hub Dies and Working Dies contain the Designer's initials and if only one Lincoln Cent for a specific date and Mint has the Designer's initials, then all of the other Lincoln Cents for that specific date and Mint that do not have the Designer's initials are Error coins. Why that some are designated Varieties in the CherryPicker's Guide is beyond me and beyond most Collectors and Coin Experts as the reason that the Designer's initials are missing is due to grease or debris clogging the Dies or due to over-polishing, over-grinding or other abrasion to the Dies during repairs and therefore, none of these constitute a planned Die modification or change by the Mints which would make them a Variety. While in the past, some of these Error coins and so-called Variety coins have sold for significant premiums, the prices they fetch and interest in them has dropped significantly as collectors and wanna-be collectors have wised up to what the coins actually are.....

The flare " G " on the 88 reverse, is the one that is the 89 reverse ( variety ) . The straight " G " is normal for 88 .
