Just letting you guys know this auction is open for bidding, a few people expressed interest last auction 113, most should do well with your exchange rates.
Of course you know I wouldn't tell you except there isn't much in it that interests me. :D Here's the link

Is it just me, or are there no images on their site?

You should be able to see images, sometimes they have no image for a particular lot (must be bad eh) but most have also pays to open up a lot because often there is more than one coin, ie the Nero temple of Vesta denarius has another few coins in VF that you cannot see unless you go to the viewing rooms in Sydney that's even a day's drive from me, suggest you copy link address and post and I will look at it.

Ok I see some of them. Would be a lot better with more images.

I just checked the site again from my usual bookmark and should have mentioned most ancient are viewable. The opening pages of Australian coin lots don't show images.

Bidding premium is almost 20%, LOL. You facture in shipping to the US on top of that and it may not be such a bargain after all.

Also watch out. They are selling copies of coins in there too (ie. Forgeries) and you would t know it unless you read the description carefully. Don't go bid crazy over a "copy". LOL. For an example of this, see Julia Titi copy.

Yes I seen that Julia Titi as well and drawn to it's cheap estimate, I agree that they shouldn't be allowed to sell copies, that 20 percent is made up in two parts 10 percent GST (our equivalent to VAT tax) and 9.25 percent hammer. Not sure if overseas buyers pay the GST component or not.

OK, thanks for explaining the tax situation. Makes sense.

However, people should still watch out. I've spotted several copies browsing through the whole thing and it bothers me that the info is burried in the description. If you must sell copies, the word COPY should appear in bold by the picture. Otherwise it is easy for someone in the heat of the moment before an auction closes to bid on a coin thinking they are getting the real thing at a bargain, and ending with something completely different.

I just gave Nobles a call, to confirm the hammer price for overseas buyers and was told 17.5% total.

For a second there I was like "Who the heck would answer a phone at 11PM?" and then I remembered you guys are in Australia. I feel like such an idiot.

You must be like me doing most of your coin work late night, that last NN auction I had to get up at 3 AM, to start bidding and stayed with it till finished how's that for commitment LOL.
