Are These Canadian Dollars Authentic? The Ebay seller has a negative feedback for selling fakes, and he has other reproductions/fakes. They look strange to me. What do you think? Here is the link to the auction: https://www.ebay.com/itm/358239894591?
They are not mine. I just saw the auction and they don't look right. With your mentioning the very low mintage,(I was unaware of that), it seems very sure that they are fakes.
They certainly look like today's Alibaba fakes - coloring, texture, mushy details. Edit to add: the 1948 would be a key date, with mintage under 20000. This auction is kind of like seeing a P/D/S set of 1916 Mercury dimes for $30.
Not quite.... The British Columbia AV 10 & 20 Dollars are, the 1911 Silver Dollar, 1921 5 cent silver......
Buddy. There is no need to quote your own self. You have done that many times on other threads. Unnecessary
Most definitely counterfeit. Look at the garbled date on each of them; that is a dead giveaway in seconds. They all have off color as well. And someone paid nearly $40 each for these.
Reported with the phrase "unauthorized reproduction". eBay offered me a list of other things I might want to buy, including this one (another 1948 Canada dollar, same appearance). I reported it with the same phrasing. In the list of "other things I might want to buy" on this listing, there was another 1948 Canada dollar, from another seller, exact same appearance. I didn't report that one, though, because I'm not looking for a new hobby where I can never reach the end of the quest.
Seller has a history of selling fakes ? Then you can probably guess that they are still selling fakes. No reason to think you're getting a good deal on authentic coins from a seller who has a history of selling fakes. You did your research, stick to the facts of the seller.
