I picked this up along with a 1960 Washington, both proofs. A couple bucks each. Now I wonder and with your expertise, is it a real piece or not. I've weighed it and I do know it should weigh 5.67 grams but my scale is not exact. Any thoughts and should I get a scale that is precise ? DSC03211.JPG DSC03210.JPG

I can't think of any good reason to doubt its' originality.

Not an expert but at first glance the 6 didn't look quite right. Just a feeling. I would defer to the real experts though....

Silver quarters should weigh 6.25 grams.
Clad quarters should weigh 5.67 grams.

The weight is a bit on the low side, but for comparison use a simple balancing scale. If they are the Real McCoy you did good at a couple bucks each.

Real or not how can you complain for a couple of bucks? I doubt if any counter fitter would attempt to make a Coin of this value for the consequences. Dave

A Proof is a tough row to hoe for a counterfeiter. It's one of the reasons I'm not lacking confidence in this coin's originality.

The first thing I did was weigh it but you know these days we buy with knee jerk reactions then question our reasoning. The piece just looked really good and I needed it for my book.

It seem like I take a chance each time I purchase anything these days.

I got six of these, each different date, yes I'd say proof.

Be very careful with a magnet. You don't want to create small marks or scratches on a nice looking Proof.

No a piece of cloth close to it and at the slightest tug I'd pull away. It did not happen.
