The source of the coin's powerful magnetism has been revealed! :D

Congrats zumbly on three good buys, I especially like the Pius, looks like good metal/surfaces and well centred. I often think just how many CT members are bidding against each other in NN auctions, they are smart not having an avatar as there can be no collusion then.

Thanks! I didn't want to spam the thread, but since you asked... :)

Another one for my Troas sub collection...

    91332_1486670651 Troas Neandreia.jpg
    TROAS. Neandria
Ae (4th century BC). 1.0g, 10mm. SNG Ashmolean 1175; SNG Copenhagen 449. Obv: Laureate head of Apollo right. Rev: NEAN. Grain ear; grape bunch to right.

This next one is a result of letting TIF-envy get the better of me. I threw an impulse bid at it and won it at its starting price.

    91491_1486670880 Elagabalus Telesphorus.jpg
    Elagabalus (218-222).
Ae. THRACE. Philippopolis.3.56g, 17mm. Varbanov 1795 var. (obv. legend). Obv: AVT K M AVP ANTΩNINOC.Laureate head right. Rev: ΦΙΛΙΠΠOΠOΛEITΩN NEΩKOPΩN. Telesphorus standing facing.

The last one is just an RR type I've always wanted a nice example of.

    ROMAN REPUBLIC. M. SERGIUS SILUS.
AR Denarius (116-115 BC). Rome. 3.89g, 17mm. Crawford 286/1. Obv: ROMA EX S C. Helmeted head of Roma right; mark of value to left. Rev: M SERGI / SILVS. Warrior on horse prancing left, holding sword, shield and severed head; Q below horse.

Thanks, AA. The Pius really landed in my price/condition sweet-spot.
The CoinTalk gang is getting to be quite the ancient coin mafia, eh :D.

You can say that again. I only bid on one coin, estimated at €50. I won it at my max bid of €110.

You can say that again! €15 postage on a €110 coin is borderline unreasonable. I'd be really annoyed paying that much on a €40 coin!

Been there, done that. If that's the cost of international shipping, I really don't blame the shippers, I just look into what my options are. If their auctions are held often enough and I win coins with some regularity, I ask for a shipment to consolidate wins across several auctions. CNG's international shipping charges start at $35 for me, even for a single $60 coin. Consolidation is my friend, postal companies are not :(.

Definitely not a regretted purchase. Although none of them are particularly rare, this is the toughest consecration issue of AP to find in a decent grade at a decent price.

Yeah, I just shrugged it off and was thankful that their buyers' fee is only 11.9% instead of 18%. :)

Very excellent win, btw. I have eagle, altar, birthday cake, but not the column.

What about the eagle on globe variant? It's the second scarcest one. :) Well, besides the Trajan Decius restoration ants.

Ah, I don't have the eagle on the globe variety, either. The TD commemorative was one of the favorite coins I picked up last year. I think the one he did for Pius was particularly nice.
