Hello everyone, On Saturday I did a 6-hour Metal Detecting hunt with three other guys at Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx NYC. These are other friends of mine who aren't part of my detecting club which are The Dirty Diggin Nuts. They have their own group, but every once in a while, they like to invite to join them, it is just fun times! I finally got me some US Silver coins for 2026! This was my second outing. It has been a rough winter, so I decided to go dirt fishing the day before our next major snow blizzard Here were my finds.. 2 - Barber Dimes 2 - Winged Liberty Head Dimes 1 - Silver Washington Indian Head Cent - 1904 22 - Wheat Cents - A few in horrid condition Aluminum Presidential Token - Cracker Jack Everything Here were my friends finds. Everybody detected silver. One guy even found two Barber Half Dollars! There were 23 Silver coins in total
Holy cow! That 1897 dime still has some meat on it! And two Barber halves -- if you all were digging in NYC, I'll bet that 1915 is a Philly mint, one of the better dates in the series! Not to mention that 1917 Type I SLQ. Still not quite enough to make me hop in the car and head for the city (especially today), but man, it would take only one or two hits like that to get me going out and digging until my arms fell off...
Thanks, they were actually a San Franciso Mint and a New Orleans Mint. I don't remember which mint mark was for each coin.
That would be S for the 1915 and O for the other; the NO mint struck its last coins in 1909, I think.
