I have not seen Jack Young post much here (or any) since this thread. Does he go to the summer FUN Show in Orlando? If so, I've got something I'd like to show him.

The real question is why are PCGS and NGC not bothering to protect their reputation?

LVMH made an issue with counterfeit handbags and came with an agreement after lawsuit. Why not them?

Are you going to sue China? PCGS has added a lot of gismos to their slabs which makes counterfeiting harder. Of course they don't do you much good if you are depending upon a picture on the Web. NGC has added some too, although not as many.

These crooks are worse than cancer. China implements capital punishment and that still does not deter them. Only way around it is more education and security measures to make their operations more expensive. Even so, I don't think that's enough.

That I believe is only against counterfieting China coinage.
The CCP I am sure aids in the counterfieting of other countries.
Maybe we should copy their coinage and see if China allows us to do business in their country. LOL

It’s my understanding that the Chinese Government comes down hard on anyone who counterfeits post revolution Chinese coins.

NGC will "nuke" the cert when a counterfeit using the cert number is reported. Usually state that counterfeits have been reported with this cert number. PCGS not so much; they have nuked 1 cert after I wrote an article and reported multiple bad "Morgan" Morgans with the same cert #.

I have had some success reporting bad listings on eBay; I guess their AI finally started catching on.

Seems like the AI still needs to learn from the experts, and should be updated every time the crooks switch to a new system. Thanks for chiming in Jack. Glad I don't buy from the internet.

Froma narrow view, scams and illegal activities are still part of the economy. The Nigerian Prince has to spend money to buy their flashy cars, gold jewelry, and even that hamburger and flip-flops.

Just not a part of the said economy I choose to participate in.

O⁹ne person working 40 hours a week to review the stuff after the AI has rejected it twice is really going to make an impact

I reported this one earlier today:

Rare 1852 California Fractional Gold Coin V.F. 1/2 Proof

Expand the third image, the one showing the reverse, and it's got REPLICA stamped right into the die (showing in relief on the coin). I pointed this out, and pointed out that eBay policy still says replica coins are banned.

Got my email reply this evening:

I note that it didn't say this was a human customer service agent.

eBay's published policy still says replicas are banned. (Okay, it says "unauthorized" replicas; I have no idea what an "authorized" replica would be. Maybe sellers can self-authorize.) But since I've had "customer service agents" confirm multiple times that replica listings don't violate eBay policy, I guess I have to conclude that they've CHANGED their policy, and just haven't gotten around to updating the page. (Wouldn't be the first time.)

Wonder if I can find any dreck to unload under the New Rules? :banghead:

The problem with reporting listings on EBay, it doesn't get reviewed by a human being. 99% of the time you are getting a message that says: This doesn't seem to violate our policy. Even when YOU KNOW IT DOES.
