Hey all, I was able to purchase an 1818 Half Dollar that I attributed as an O-107a. I was looking online at the PCGS price guide, and this was the only variety for which a rarity rating was not given. I know the regular O-107 is just an R1, but there didn't seem to be nearly as many examples of the O-107a. Anyone with more experience dealing with CBHs have any insight into the scarcity and potential value of this coin? Thanks!
107a is a misnomer. There is actually only one recognized die state for the marriage despite the PGCS listing.
Ditto, Lord M. I will on occasion try to attempt an attribution via the Maibockaddict site, but usually exit crosseyed with a mild headache.
Some kind person once gifted me a copy of the Overton book. It read like an algebra textbook to me- and I consistently flunked that subject in high school.
Me either. As embarrassing as that is. I'm not quite sure what people mean by "die stages". Is it early? Is it late die state? It's all more than I need to know. You know?
