Are yall talking about the same coin? I think the limit of 13 was very short window.. the extra gold was a little longer.

The liberty head / eagle you linked is his standard issue that he's been doing annually since 2012 I believe.

This is the first year for the gold liberty head with owl reverse and I don't think any have sold on the aftermarket yet. It should do well over issue price if someone puts one up. How well I'm not sure but I would think a BIN of $250-300 at current spot price might get a bite especially once they are officially marked as sold out. The owl design has become uber popular with the silver octagons and that popularity is transferring well to the gold as evidenced by the fact that not one of the 50 has been offered for sale on eBay yet.

The 3 gram platinum owls are still available but that's probably because platinum looks like silver only more expensive and isn't as popular a PM generally speaking as gold or silver.

It's possible that the gold will draw a following, especially with the popular owl design.

By the way, the 3 gram one that you mention is actually palladium.

Besides it looking similar to silver, I think that one is less popular since it has a larger premium.

The Gold 1/10 oz was priced at $175, that is $51.50 per coin or $515 per oz over spot (at a spot price of 1235 per oz). The palladium 3 gram (let's use 3 although the page says some may be 2.9g) is $75 over spot per coin or $778 per oz over spot (at a spot price of 777 per oz).

Plus it doesn't help that the actual token says 3.1 grams and yet they are all underweight.

All true as well. I didn't run the math. I did type palladium but my stupid auto correct changed it to a word I type more often and I didn't catch it. My phone actually changes correctly written words to what it thinks I want to say sometimes. Its quite annoying. See, it just changed "quite" to "white" and I had to fix it. Grrr. Anyway, platinum, palladium, it's all the same except palladium is even less popular a PM than platinum lol

    Auto-correct can stink sometimes!

I think if this owl was platinum and did come in at 3.1 (1/10 oz), I would be a buyer at $150. The Palladium owl would have to be a bit lower in price for me to buy it.

I'm still waiting foe the Liberty/Moose combination

  11. The last run of palladium owls is slightly overweight. Mine came in at 3.25, and he actually noted it on the certificate. Only 33 of these have been made too, as opposed to 50 of the satin 1/10 gold. ;)

  12. If you follow the aftermarket of his bullion work, the platinum and palladium pieces never (okay I'll be more precise and say rarely) come up for auction. The gold often does and if a true auction will only bring slightly above issue price. There are many of his gold pieces with high BINs that sit on eBay unsold.

Some of the gold pieces do very well but yeah, some of the more common stuff can sit with overpriced BIN's. I don't really follow the pl/pt sales though.

  14. That gold treasure cob that you recently acquired will do very well. That is a unique piece with an extremely low mintage. The pallladium/platinum issues have very low mintages and are in very strong hands so not much of an aftermarket.

Look what the mailman just dropped off. No extreme doubling but I'm happy to say the least. In a hurry but I took some quick photos that aren't that good.

    Oh my, it's a keeper.

Sure looks slightly double or triple struck to me. Check out the D & C on the obverse as well as the ring lettering! Wanna trade :woot:

I don't consider 99 cent auctions on eBay the market for anything, maybe whole sale market in the absence of shill bidding

I consider it the best evaluation of a true value, if there are several that have sold. If it is a single sell, that is not enough data in my opinion.
