You guys see the House passed a bill to produce new gold $2.5 commemoratives this year the same as the 1926 ones with new date? Also proposed circulating ones if feasible. Language read the program could go 5 years for some reason. I think the $2.5 is cool and would definitely want a commemorative but I will admit it’s getting late to propose this in what is already an extremely busy coin year at the mint.
Saw that .. they showed the 1776 - 1926 $2.50 commem. noticed it immediately we we chatted about it in one thread.
Commemoratives is one thing buy circulation that would for sure be another, i have a hard enough time counting my change...LOL
Interesting. Are there any pics of proposed designs? Or did you mean they'd be recycling the Sesquicentennial design of a hundred years ago? Circulating ones if feasible? In gold? I'll believe that when I see it happen! I reckon I'll just stick with my Sesqui.
Pretty cool idea, even if it is already 2026. Would love to see this in circulation. It would make using cash more interesting. I also think this will create more of an interest in coins for non-collectors if they handle unusual coins in circulation.
Of course they did. All members of Congress as well as a number of administration officials get these commemorative or first issue coins as keepsakes from the Mint before the rest of us even see them. And since many of said "officials" are rabid collectors and pass them on to their beloved offspring those coins will remain out of circul.................wait, what...............they sell them for personal gain and profit ? Perish the thought.
