Depends what it is. It's true the major sellers can do very well being first to market with the 70s and there can even be a period where any version does well, but unless the mintage was limited or it stops selling sooner than expected the window is generally pretty short.

Scam definitely isn't the right word. Profiteering maybe a little bit but nothing about it was dishonest or scam like. Besides at the end of the day things like that are what his customers want and like. It's a nice surprise from time to time

I apologize to Mr.Carr for my limited vocabulary. The word I used was extremely inappropriate.:facepalm::sorry:

As I wrote, he can do what he wishes - even to the point of making only one strike and having a raffle to benefit the ANA Scholarship Program or his favorite charity.

I strongly disagree with all this. Most coins bought from the mint cannot be flipped for a quick profit. Why? Most do not sell out, therefor you can still pick them up for issue price. Usually it is just the limited issues that bring a quick flip, and most of those do not hold there value beyond that.

Well shut my keyboard. That's very interesting. Who would have known?

 So I guess you can either buy your new issue at the Mint, at your local dealer, at a coin show, on Ebay, and through the mail at the exact same price when they are just issued.

Actually you can sometimes get them for less on ebay, etc, if they are still available from the mint. Why? People might think you are selling a problem coin (won't get 70), so they would rather buy a new one from the mint.

Also true. Not to mention there are the rejects that all get dumped onto the market around the same time flooding eBay ect which drives the price down as well

  10. Anyone have a link that states that only 13 of these were made? Thanks, TC

Yep, I ordered another one earlier that day (Wed). I was early for a doctors appointment (2 CST) and went to check DCs items and they were available. I ordered it and checked the time, 1:45 PM. I watched it every hour or so until 8:00 PM, STILL available. When I checked the next morning they were gone. So I know they were up for at least 6 hours. I don't know when they started or ended but 6+ hours being listed is FAR FROM special treatment. Glad you got one and I hope he makes some 2017s.

How late was it when you ordered yours?

With all the BAD comments on this piece I thought 13 might be too many.
BTW, I've missed many items over the years and just said it wasn't my day. Win some, lose some.

Really? I thought checked an hour or so before and it wasn't available so I figured only one or maybe two were put up as I could only add 1 to my cart when I checked to see how many were up. Guess I was mistaken.
