Is this PMD or actually something neat?

Hello All. Meow has been hiding under the couch for awhile now. Meow is bad kitty that feels like a really bad kitty and has been not doing well coping with the demands of the world. Meow was not going to post anytime soon but just found something that Meow was very curious about. Is this just PMD? This was just found CRH penny rolls. Meow has found quite a few neat finds or the last few months but Meow has been feeling bad about stuff too much to post.

Hello MTK, always good to see you here. I'm not sure about what's going on with the obverse, but a couple nice little die cracks on the reverse at both ends of the base of the memorial.

By the way the weird area has a seemingly normal rim. Bit the middle of the coin is shaped like dish.

Yes it does. It also has a date of 198? that can be seen a certain light angles. The last digit might be a 3 or an 8 as a very slight half circle can be seen there.

I agree, it looks like a struck through die cap error.

Meow did look that up as a possibility. But the stuff Meow found says that the image of another coin in involved. Also some associated pics show a very misshaped penny. This penny seems normal besides the dished center. Meow thought of weighing it, but the scale is lost in the Cat Hoard and has not been seen in many years.

Meow has looked at the date at various angles and light, and thinks it is a 1982 d. Meow has put it in a nice holder and label. "1982 D Struck Through Die Cap"

Now Meow is absolutely sure this is the real thing. As Meow thinks you are one of the most skeptical but knowledgeable members here. Thanks Paddy. Now Meow can go back under the couch.

Wow, this one of the coolest pennies Meow ever found value wise. This must be very hard to find.
