It was the second and final day of the show. It was early afternoon, and some dealers have already packed or were about to pack up.

My experience is the opposite and I've found almost every single seller prefers doing the deal off Ebay. They get a better price and I get a better deal as a buyer plus by still using Paypal you still have protections in place for both buyer and seller. It really comes down to just knowing how to make that contact and not doing it through Ebay's message system.

Same here. Most sellers usually love to cut eBay out and save that fee. The one issue that may have happened here is that the buyer needs to leave a way for the seller to contact them. Most sellers won't incriminate themselves in the eBay messaging system as the initiator

Indeed, although sometimes Ebay will flag the message as spam when trying to leave a number/email so you have to be a little creative such as contact me at 3 two five 4 957 or similar. Although I've also had some sellers not even care and proposition right through the messaging system. Usually though most sellers will have a phone #, personal website, email address, etc something that you can use to contact them away from Ebay's prying eyes.

Lol, I've even gone so far as a buyer as purchasing something very cheap the seller has listed as BIN or a no bid auction. Just because it then allows me to obtain their email address from in Paypal and then I can negotiate when I couldn't find contact info any other way. I personally have not yet encountered a seller who wasn't willing to make the sale off site it's usually a win-win for both parties.

i mean you did your homework on the item. he had a figure in mind and was set. he just didnt want to sell it because he liked it or whenever his motive was .... dunno

either way, i would come back on the final day, and give him the same offer you did already. he takes, it fine ... if he doesnt, let him have it. can not fix stubborn

I've had the same experience. Spacing on different lines can sometimes beat the filter too. Some of the big boys do seem to be rather brazen from time to time but we all know they get a lot more leeway with the amount of money that is made off them. Anytime I have pursued that route I don't ever recall a seller being opposed and often times it seems like they were hoping you would ask that. eBay tilted everything so far in the buyers favor that I doubt many if any sellers have much if any loyalty to them anymore
