When I looked up the number it says that after 10 years copper coins are no longer valid and I need to re-submit it. It is Brown so I didn't bother. I looked up the number again and it says it is not valid lookup. I think I might crack it open to put in my book. Should I? IMG_0078.JPG

H'mm. When I looked it up it appeared, as shown below. True, the text below the verification describes the 10-year limitation on the certification and grade.

Can't advise you on whether to resubmit, crack or keep as is.

Oh where did you submit it? Maybe I will keep it as is. It is BN so no need to re-submit it. Oh I see there is a page to submit the number and grade. They got rid of the 10 year thing.

The auction houses don't seem to pay much attention to NGC’s unfortunate policy toward copper coins. I could understand pulling back on red copper and maybe even R&B, but brown coins are stable, given proper storage.

I would leave it in the slab. Most anyone who would buy it, would use the Fine-12 grade as a starting point.

The cert page comes up fine.

As to cracking it out, I say no unless you want to put it in an Indian Cent album. You could do that, and just keep the insert from the slab. But if you're not going to put it in the book, I would keep it in the slab, obviously. Should you ever want to sell it later, you'll do better with it in the slab, since that's a better date Indian and potential buyers will like the protection (authentication) the slab offers them.
