There is a similar thread on another forum. People really seem to enjoy it, so I figured I would start one here. Title says it all. Lets see what coins everyone carries in their pockets as Pocket Pieces. Can be ANY coin as long as it is a "Pocket Piece". Here are mine as of 3/1/17 I will post new picture every month to show progression of wear. Now lets see yours!
Tokens are also allowed. I will also allow "Short Snorters"( I think that is what they are called) as well.
My pocket piece is not a coin it's a pouch, inside are indexed cards for items I need to complete sets and albums I have .. envelopes to put findings in, a 2004 ASE , a few coins an air tight capsule a pill bottle , a complete set of magnifyer glasses and a few other items Sent from my C6740N using Tapatalk
The neatest pocket pieces I ever saw were in the pocket of a Southern coin dealer who shall not be named but I'm sure some of you know him. He pulled out about six or seven coins. There were $5 and $2 1/2 Dahlonega and Charlotte gold and Seated Liberty 25c and 50c coins. He carried them to remove traces of cleaning and make them more presentable. He said he once put a better date SL 25c in a coke machine during a stop for gas! Over the years he's worn out a few pockets.
Mine doubles as a card protector during poker games. Im a cheater since it stays in an airtight? I always announce in the beginning of the game, that if i throw this in the pot it = $20 bet. THEN sometime during the game i let everyone know, how near & dear it is to me, & that i will only throw it in the pot if i have a monster hand. I rarely get called when i bet with it !!
That's cheating, leaving it an airtight. When first I added my 2002 (ASE) to the environs of a pocket piece, I kept it in one of those vinyl flips. Eventually, I cut her loose from her containment. Ain't gots a proper photog setup down here (FL) to image her currently. I've also added a Hall of Fame Dollar to my pocket mix. I'll see if I can post some pics on the morrow. Heck, I left the tripod home.........
Was my pocket piece for two years. I kept thinking I'd lose it so I stuck it between some Taco Bell napkins.
Not as ugly as one of my pocket pieces. The Peace Dollar I found at a bank a few years ago. I figure it was turned in after someone's Grandpa passed away. I'd like to think it was someone else's pocket piece for decades. The Ike I found back in the mid-80's. It was very worn even then. I've kept it in my wallet for 30+ years as a good luck piece. I figure it had been a casino coin. It won me an apartment in a coin toss (heads side is heavier than tails!).
I used to carry a completely worn smooth Morgan until I lost it, now I've been carrying this for about three years, mainly used to scratch off lottery tickets.
