    Hello everyone,

My wife and I are heading to a 1 week getaway to Puerto Rico tonight :kiss:

I probably won't be posting much for the next 8 days since I will be away.
And no beach metal detecting this time around :wideyed:

Today I present you with this recently acquired neat item..

Enjoy PR! Should be nice and warm there, eh?

Re. Lewis & Clark: I think we’re distantly related to Clark, on my mother’s side.

Have fun this time. I think I'll miss your satire personality most. ;)
Too bad about not detecting but there's always the Big hunt down south, correct? :)
Bring back something nice also. :woot:
Congrat's on the coin and currency set! ;)

Just mildly neat. After this many generations, you’re possibly related to him too.

I'm an avid fan of Lewis and Clark and the Corp of Discovery. I do have the commem's in my collection, purchased at the time of issue and when the mint was reasonable with their price assessment's, but I never obtained the coin and chronicle's set for this offering. I contemplated buying it but I tarried too long and the offering became unavailable. Se la Vie. For those who wish to learn more about the Lewis and Clark journeys I recommend two works of fiction which are most entertaining and (for the most part) historically correct. From Sea to Shinning Sea, By James Alexander Thom and The Captains Dog by Roland Smith. Both good reads, to be sure.

Safe trip to La Isla de Encanta Mr. Ed. We'll keep the lights on here till you get back....:)

On the nonfiction (but also entertaining) front, I recommend Stephen Ambrose’s Undaunted Courage.

Yes, I do love a good nonfiction book that’s as entertaining as a novel. I highly recommend Tony Horwitz and Erik Larson and Bill Bryson in this regard.

Very cool piece. These and the coin and pouch set my dad and me scored several of each at release time - then sold them for a profit.

That name didn’t ring a bell until I looked up some of his titles. I did read his Uncommon Carriers a while back. Thanks for putting him back on my radar.

David McCullough is probably the best of all of them. He wrote a well received biography of your relative John Adams.
